Only approved targets are allowed to be used, and shooting at anything other than approved targets is strictly prohibited.
Alcohol and drugs are prohibited on club premises. Members and guests who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be prohibited from using the range.
Smoking is not allowed in the clubhouse or on the range.
Members and guests must be responsible for their actions and are liable for any damage or injury caused by their firearms.
No member or guest may use firearms in a manner that endangers themselves or others.
Any violation of the safety rules may result in the suspension or termination of membership or immediate expulsion from the premises.
Rule Concerning Firearms Instruction at the Club:
Under no circumstances can any OSC Club Member or guest teach any form of Firearm Instruction (or any other service for that matter) to anybody at OSC while charging for your/their services. This EXCLUDES any registered Federal or State non-profit that has specific OSC Board approval to do so.
If you are teaching a family member or guest basic gun safety and are not receiving any sort of payment for this, that's perfectly fine and encouraged. But YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED to use OSC for running any CCW courses, running your firearm instructional business or ANY OTHER business/service you get financial compensation or other forms of payment for your services rendered, NOR IS ANY GUEST YOU BRING TO OSC. Doing so is in violation of CA state law and is not allowed.
If you are caught doing so, you will face immediate termination of your membership. We have sent out emails to all OSC Members as well as updated our OSC Constitution to reflect this.
The GunPRO Pledge for Responsible Ownership:
GunPRO - is a decentralized, grassroots effort for gun owners to show their dedication to the responsibility of gun ownership, and to help avoid negative outcomes involving firearms.
GunPRO is a voluntary, individual pledge that focuses on 3 important aspects of gun ownership:
Education and Training
Preventing unauthorized access to firearms
Seeking help and removing access to firearms during times of extreme emotional stress or mental illness
Learn more and download your copy of the pledge here.
OSC Ranges:
Pistol ranges are at the west end of the property and the backstops are facing toward the west edge of the property. The left most bay facing west is Bay 1. The Bays are numbered from left to right.
Bay 1 – Standard handguns only
Bay 2 – Standard handguns, Rifles may be sighted in from the bench at 35 yards. Rimfires when a Rifle Range Master is present and authorizes use.
Bays 3 and 4 – handguns, rifles and shotguns. Rifles and shotguns can be fired no more than 10 rounds at a time.
The 100 yard rifle range is located under the Rifle Roof behind the rifle line barrier.
ALL MEMBERS have responsibility to ensure that all activities at OSC are conducted in a safe and responsible manner. All firearms shall be unloaded at all times except when actually on the firing line and preparing to shoot. All firearms must be aimed so that any discharge will result in the round impacting the appropriate backstop. "Unloaded" means: all chambers empty, fixed magazines empty, detachable magazines removed, and actions open.
REMEMBER to read and review OSC's "GENERAL RANGE SAFETY RULES" and the "RANGES AND USE OF EACH" sections prior to each time you shoot at the range. This information can be found in the linked RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES button at the top of this page.
EVERY MEMBER is a safety officer, has the responsibility and duty to immediately address all safety violation observed at the Club.
